For close to 20 years, Roberto Chavez made a life in the United States without a GED. A construction worker, Chavez never thought he’d get a diploma. But the Latin American immigrant had a change of heart when he started taking classes to learn English and reached out to Pivot.
With Pivot’s help, Chavez earned his GED in less than six months. Now, the South Sacramento resident is on his way to bigger and better things professionally, having enrolled in school to become a contractor.
“If anybody’s asking me, like they’re undecided and they want to get their GED, I would say, ‘If you don’t try, you will never know. You have to do it,’” Chavez said.
